DCR Bans Violent, Sexual, Felony And Other Offenders

The Derby City Radioactives anounced today that anyone convicted of a felony, a violent or sexual offense, or any crime involving theft, robbery, burglary or fraud will not be allowed membership in DCR. Current members who have criminal convictions that fall under these criteria will have thier membership revoked. This decision comes after another Kentucky radio club earlier this year, discovered one high level member was a convicted pedafile. The member was promptly expelled.

"It's sad that we even have to think about issues such as this, but it's something that must be done for the protection of the members and the good of the club" said club president Chris DeMarsh.

Members and applicants who have been convicted of non-violent, non-sexual or non-fraud/theft related misdemeanors will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Derby City Radioactives Get Amateur Callsign KJ4BIC

The Derby City Radioactives have just been issued thier first amateur radio callsign, KJ4BIC. Club president Chris DeMarsh 1DCR1/KI4RDG applied to the FCC for a club call and the application was granted on January 10, 2008. "I plan to put in an application for a vanity callsign, KY4DCR on or around the end of this month. We should have it by the middle of February" said club president DeMarsh.

We should mention that this callsign infers no special operating privileges, to operate on the amateur bands you must hold an FCC amateur radio service license.

Here is your first look at the DCR QSL card.
