Derby City Radioactives Club  By-Laws

We, the undersigned, wishing to secure for ourselves the pleasures and benefits of an association of persons commonly interested in Radio Communications, constitute ourselves the Derby City Radioactives and enact this constitution as our governing law. It shall be our purpose to further the exchange of information and cooperation between members, to promote radio knowledge, fraternalism and individual operating efficiency, and to so conduct club programs and activities as to advance the general interest and welfare of Radio Communications in the community.

All persons interested in Radio Communications, are active in radio communications and have their own radio station shall be eligible for membership. Membership shall be by application and election upon such terms as the club shall provide in its By-Laws.

Violation of these by-laws may result in suspension of membership, cancelation of membership and or permanent expulsion from the Derby City Radioactives. Penalties are decided on a case by case basis by club directors.

General By-Laws

 

  1. All members must use good conduct on the air. This means that no member may intentionally cause harmful or disruptive interference to any other operator no matter what the band or mode. Threatening and or needlessly insulting other operators is also strictly forbidden. No member shall do anything that would publicly embarrass or shame the club in any way.

 

  1. All members (full or honorary) must live in Kentucky or Indiana. Non-voting / non-paying honorary members who move after being voted in as honorary members shall maintain their honorary status within the club.

 

  1. All full members must own and operate their own radio equipment. This may be in the form of a permanently or temporarily installed base station, a permanently or temporarily installed mobile station or a portable station.

 

  1. No person who has been convicted of a felony, a violent or sexual offense or any crime related to theft, robbery, burglary or fraud will be granted membership in the Derby City Radioactives. Non-violent, non-sexual and non-theft/fraud related misdemeanors will be considered on a case-by-case basis

 

  1. All full members must pay an annual due of ten ($10) dollars to the Derby City Radioactives. Five ($5) dollars of each member due will be sent to the DCR head chapter (Chapter 1) and the other five dollars will be kept by the member's home chapter. NO MEMBER DUES COLLECTED SHALL BE USED FOR PERSONAL EXPENSES.

 

  1. Failure to pay by the end of the due period (November 20 ) will result in a late fee of five dollars being added to the member's required annual due. After six months of non payment the person's membership will be canceled and his/her club callsign will be reassigned.

 

  1. All full members will be issued a DCR club call sign. This call sign will begin with the member's chapter number then the letters "DCR" followed by the member's individual number within the chapter. Members are not required to use these call signs on the air but we do encourage it.

 

  1. A person shall be given an honorary membership in the DCR if the chapter officers see that that person has in some way made important contributions to the chapter or club as a whole.

 

  1. Honorary (non-paying) members shall not be allowed to vote in club and or chapter presidential elections.

 

  1. The DCR club and each chapter within will hold a presidential election on the 20th day of October of every two years. The current club / chapter president may be reelected or a new member may be chosen to serve. Only full members are eligible to participate in elections.

   11.  No DCR member shall vote for themselves in any club / chapter

         election.

 

  1. In the event of a tie an election will be decided by a fight to the death (or a coin toss-off) which ever is preferred by the candidates. 

 

  1. If a person joins who is in a county with no other DCR members, that person will automatically become the president of that county's chapter.

 

  1. All members will take care not to damage any piece of property belonging to the Derby City Radioactives.

 

  1. Any damage done to DCR property by a DCR member and determined to have been done intentionally OR caused by gross negligence will be repaired or replaced at the expense of the member.                                                                                                                        
  2. All chapter presidents will turn an annual report to the DCR head chapter (Chapter 1). The report will include all new members who joined the chapter during the past calendar year, how much money has been collected by the chapter, how much money has been spent and how, what chapter members have had disciplinary actions brought against them and why, how many chapter members have failed to pay dues and what events the chapter has participated in.

 

  1. The chapter president's annual report is due by January 31 of each year.

 

  1. The DCR Board of Directors shall be made up of the club president who shall be head of the board, club vice president and each chapter president.

 

  1. The Board of Directors be responsible for deciding all disciplinary action taken against DCR members.

   20. If a person makes a purchase in the club’s name and that person has received

        PRIOR AUTHORIZION from the board of directors to make the purchase that

        person shall be reimbursed for their expenses upon presenting the board of

        directors with a receipt or other proof of purchase that includes location and 

        date of sale as well as full purchase price.

 

   21. Non prior authorized purchases will be handled on a case by case basis
